Abstract
:
This research studied the structure of 'Antarah bin Shaddad's Mu'allaqah. It has revealed it to be a honorary and sensational poem. It began by philandering words as is the customary way of the poets of the pre Islamic era of ignorance. Though this poem is not an erotic poem that uses glory and sensation to thrill the poet's lover. Nevertheless, that was a false impression portrayed by its structural disorganization which was caused by the transmitters that abused the arrangement of its poetic verses. Although 'Antarah was keen on creating coherence between its verses. This dedication made him to refer back to the preceding elements of the introduction in order to link them with the following ones. The research has however confirmed the spuriousness of what people used to accept as a dependable fact with respect to 'Antarah's infatuation with 'Ablah which is not stated in the ancient books of literature but was only asserted by some contemporary writers who relied on the records of his popular biography. The research further expounded on the fallaciously ascribed poems to this poet and their indications . It also displayed that some of the poems that were declared fake by some researchers are not true as they had relied on evidences that are not dynamic. It also revealed the shortcomings of the poem which the ancient scholars could not point out due to their glorification of the poets of the pre Islamic era of ignorance. The research finally came to a conclusion by criticizing the researches and write-ups made about this poem (Al-Mu'allaqah) by revealing the affectation in it which was caused by their implementation of the modern methodologies of criticism or due to the ignorance of those researchers about the Arabian styles and the objectives of Arab poets.
