The study deals with Cartographic media for kindergarten in Jeddah city with
analysis for some features of such media . For this study ,we take a sample of
Cartographic media containing maps, Atlases , educational Carpets, cut maps
(Puzzle) , globe and Cartographic electronic games . The study investigates various
levels of receipt for the child and his interaction with the media according to Selected
and experimental group, and sex ( male - female) . Teachers and specialists point of
view is considered for the importance of u importance of using Cartographic media
to kindergarten and child receipt , taking in mind the qualification and experience of
the teacher , and school type (private or governmental). Cartographic skills of child
are evaluated for both Selected and experimental group , and for each type of
Cartographic media . An Atlas for child is designed and then improved to fit
kindergarten based on opinions of both teachers and children. The study consists of
288 random samples of kindergarten in Jeddah and 72 random samples of their
teachers .The study consists of three Cartographic approaches : criticism approach ,
analytical approach, and experimental approach. Performance of the study is checked
by using a questionnaire form consisting of 13 statements related to the directions of
kindergarten teachers and specialists for the importance of using Cartographic media
.Other questionnaire forms are established for evaluating interaction and receipt of
children to Cartographic media ,and also to the suggested Atlas .The study concluded
that the panoramic and pictorial maps are the most attractive cartographic media for
the children , as they have bright colors and graphs. Also, most of teachers
recommend the use of cartographic maps in kindergarten to develop the concepts and
recognition of locations in the child environment . |
