Under the patronage of H.E Prof. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Amoudi, Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity at King Abdulaziz University, the University Medical Services Center organized an awareness event in recognition of World Diabetes Day, held on Tuesday, 17 November 2025. The event was attended by Dr. Marwan bin Saeed Al-Azraqi, Director of the University Medical Services Center.
The event was organized in collaboration with the First Health Cluster, the Public Health Authority (Weqaya), the Faculty of Nursing, and the Deanship of Student Affairs. It included a health education exhibition, interactive awareness activities, and free medical consultations for visitors.
Dr. Hanan Al-Qabaa, Family Medicine Consultant at the University Medical Services Center, stated that the event aimed to raise health awareness among people with diabetes and those at risk. It also aimed to provide them with high-quality health education and guidance on prevention strategies, including healthy eating, regular physical activity, and maintaining a normal weight.
Dr. Al-Qabaa emphasized that health education is vital not only for patients, but also for healthy individuals and healthcare professionals, as a key measure in preventing the disease. She noted that diabetes is a serious condition linked to risk factors such as obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking.
